Guitarist and rockabilly singer Link Wray was one of the key cult figures in the history of rock 'n' roll and modern rock, having pioneered the technique of using power chords on a distorted electric guitar, most notably on his landmark hit "Rumble", that was an essential feature of later heavy rock, punk and other styles. Pete Townshend of The Who said that: "If it hadn't been for Link Wray and 'Rumble' I would have never picked up a guitar." Of Shawnee native American parentage, he contracted tuberculosis while serving in the Korean War, losing a lung, and was told he might never sing again. However, he pursued a music career, and made rockabilly records before in 1958 recording "Rumble", a brooding instrumental which was banned by some radio stations for fear it would incite gang violence. It proved an inspirational for just about every teenager who picked up a guitar. He had a chequered and brief recording career with major labels, frustrated by the corporate machine, and in the early '60s made his own records in an improvised studio. This collection comprises as many of the A & B sides of his early singles on a variety of labels as are available to include, plus the tracks from his two albums during this era not otherwise released as singles. It naturally includes "Rumble" plus his other two chart entries "Rawhide" and "Jack The Ripper". It's a fascinating showcase for one of rock 'n' roll's true left-field heroes, an instinctive style icon and innovator.

About Andsnes as a soloist, the composer says: "He is so clear and plays so precisely. And my music relies on extreme precision. It's almost manic - and I can't help it. That's why I could never get any better than him to play it! "When Eivind Gullberg Jensen was to lead his first concert as chief conductor for the Norddeutsche Rundfunk Sinfonie Orchestra in Hanover in 2009, he commissioned a new piece by Ketil Hvoslef - to" bring something from home ". The result was the orchestral work Ein Traumspiel, which is based on August Strindberg's poetic drama. Stein Winge set up Ghelderode's play Barabbas in Oslo in 1981, and Hvoslef composed music for the performance. The theme led Hvoslef on in the opera of the same name, and finally in the orchestral work Barabbas - opera without singers, where excerpts from the opera libretto are shown on a text machine above the orchestra as the action in the work progresses. Throughout his composer career, Hvoslef has had a close relationship with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, which has performed and commissioned a number of his works.

He performs in the world's most important concert halls - both alone and as a soloist with the leading orchestras, while also building a recognized and very rich discography. In this recording they are led by chief conductor Edward Gardner, as well as Juanjo Mena and Eivind Gullberg Jensen.

Lee and the Beautitones, is an international blues band based in Venice, Italy with Marco Bolognini on guitar and Massimo Prosdocimo on drums. Lee is renown for his distinctive natural blues voice as well as his bass playing. Originally from Vancouver, B.C., He is a graduate of the music program at Capilano University in North Vancouver.
While living in western Canada, Lee toured across the country with various bands. In 1990, he moved to Ontario and teamed up with Mike Burton to form the Hurtin' Blues Band. This collaboration produced two CD's: Piece of Cake, 200 and Mouse, 2003.
In 2013 Lee recorded Sit Down Blues as a solo project. In 2019 he released his fourth CD Venice at Night featuring two musicians from Vancouver : guitar wizard John Keiselhorst and life-long friend, drummer Randy Jakob. The CD was recorded at Cosmic Pig Studios in Surrey, B.C. It was produced by Lee and Rick Boulter. All of the original songs on the four CD's were co-written by Alana Pierini and Lee Holmes.
