Zu meinem Unterfangen aber gibt mir kein Geringerer als mein Herr und Meister, Martinus selber, den Mut, sofern er als seine ihm von Gott gegebene Aufgabe stets betonte, das Laienchristentum zu predigen, die deutsche Laienbibel seinem deutschen Volk zu geben und die Laienreligion im Katechismus kurz und klar zu fassen. Das gab mir Mut zur Arbeit und Glaube ans Gelingen, das trieb und dr?ngte und zwang mich, meinen Laien-Luther zu schreiben. Von meiner Jugend an, solang ich lesen kann, habe ich von gro?en M?nnern gern und von dem allergr??ten in meinen Augen, von Luther, am ?ftesten und allerliebsten gelesen. Wenn es wahr ist, dass man, um einen Menschen recht zu verstehen, ihn erst recht lieben muss, so habe ich, wie k?hn es klingt, meinen Martinus ganz verstanden; denn, solange ich wei?, hat hei? mein Herz geschlagen und gebrannt f?r den deutschesten und fr?mmsten von allen Deutschen.
