On October 2, Nicole Willis returns with her third album accompanied by the Finland-based Soul Investigators since 2005: Happiness In Every Style. As the name suggests, the new release her fifth solo outing since 2000 offers plenty of variety and lands on a sunnier side of the street, following her darker, acclaimed 2013 release, Tortured Soul. Nicole and the Soul Investigators offer upbeat modern soul and embrace sophisticated melodies alongside their highly evolved raw funk sound, whose wares share vinyl shelf space with fans of Sharon Jones and Charles Bradley. To get a taste of the new album s strength and appeal, one has only to put on the first single, Paint Me In A Corner, Let's Communicate or the ebullient One In a Million to hear the vocalist s energy and skill, honed by decades in the music game. From minor key ballads such as Thief In The Night to the unapologetically poppy Angel, the new album is a perfect showcase not only for her sweet, evocative, powerful voice, but also excellent songwriting by Willis and the group. Nicole Willis soulful voice is one of a kind, and her lyrics are full of insight. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she first became known as a vocalist in the mid-80s working in London with the group Washington Week In Review (including future members of the Brand New Heavies) as well as New York groups Hello Strangers and Blue Period. She was a guest vocalist on tour with the UK pop group The The during the late 80s, and even spent time in an early version of the group Deee-Lite. In the 90s she helped form the NYC-based acid jazz and soul group Repercussions, releasing two albums with them: Earth & Heaven (1995, Warner Bros.) and Charmed Life (1997). During that same era, she dueted via the Repercussions with Curtis Mayfield on the song Let s Do It Again (from the 1994 Warner Brothers album, A Tribute To Curtis Mayfield), and collaborated with the UK dance group Leftfield, on the single Swords Nicole has resided in Helsinki, Finland since the mid-2000s with her partner producer and musician Jimi Tenor. In addition to his collaborative assistance with her solo work, they have released two house / electronic albums since 2013 under the group name Cola & Jimmu. (As an aside, Tenor performs flute, vibes, background vocals and of course tenor sax on Nicole s latest album). In addition to her wide-ranging and renowned musical work, she is also an accomplished painter. The Helsinki-based Soul Investigators have performed together since 1998, and have released numerous singles, including soul and funk instrumentals as well as collaborations with a range of vocalists. Group members Jukka Sarapaa (drums) and Sami Kantelinen (bass) also run the renowned, vinyl-centric Timmion Records label. Nicole Willis & The Soul Investigators first album together, Keep Reachin Up was released on Timmion Records in 2005, and it was a critical success among soul enthusiasts around the globe. The hit single Feeling Free was chosen as Track of the Year by renowned DJ Gilles Peterson in his World Wide Awards in 2006. Keep Reachin Up was also selected as the Urban Album of the Year by MOJO magazine. After the album was released, Nicole and the band performed consistently in Europe throughout the late 00s. In the following years the record has also been released in France, UK, Japan and North America. In early 2012, President Barack Obama chose the song Keep Reachin Up for his re-election campaign s official Spotify playlist. Nicole Willis & the Soul Investigators released their sophomore effort, Tortured Soul, in early 2013. In weaving America's native culture and history, Philip Glass has created his own musical lineage. This album explores these ideas through his single most demanding piano piece, the ferocious, but lyrically meditative Piano Concerto no.2 (after Lewis and Clark), as well as one of his most neglected, the mysterious A Secret Solo 2. Wichita Vortex Sutra, a joyful and transcendent study, is also heard in the version for narrator, with words by the poet Allen Ginsberg. From his experimental years comes Music in Contrary Motion with its mesmerising variety of pulse patterns.
Nicolas Horvath began his music studies at Monaco's Académie de Musique et de Théâtre Prince Rainier III and soon began to make an impression on a number of artists who would become his mentors. Aged 16 he caught the attention of the American conductor Lawrence Foster before coming to the notice of several distinguished international pianists, including Liszt specialist Leslie Howard. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including First Prize at both the Scriabin and the Luigi Nono International Competitions. He has become noted for hosting concerts of unusual length, sometimes lasting over twelve hours, such as the overnight performance of the complete piano music of Erik Satie at the Paris Philharmonie before a cumulative audience of 14,000 people. In 2019 he performed alongside Philip Glass at the same venue in a programme devoted to the American composer's piano music. Nicolas is a Steinway Artist.

Recorded in 2010 and previously unreleased, 'This Has No Longer Been the Future' is in some ways a companion piece to Scrivin's 2007 album 'Tomorrow's World', returning once more to the sounds and themes of the 1980s.
Opening with 'Back in 1980' and its chanted vocal mantra ("disco, Bowie clones, Blitz kids"), the six tracks progress through celebrations of Brutalist architecture ('Science of the Concrete') and a delicate synthetic ode to a childhood summer's day at 'Jodrell Bank' before heading into darker territory with evocations of the Chernobyl disaster (Roentgens) and Cold War spy communications (Secretive Sequentials).

Neil Athale is a renowned British Indian multi-instrumentalist composer, producer & songwriter. His songs have featured on multi platinum albums in many countries and he has composed highly acclaimed scores for award winning internationally released feature films.
'Strange But True' marks the latest feature Neil has scored.
Beginning his career in music as a guitarist some 15 years ago, it wasn't long before Neil was among the most respected session musicians in London. The natural progression for Neil was into songwriting and production, resulting in hugely successful collaborations with renowned artists around the world.
This background provided the ideal framework for Neil to perfect his craft in composing edgy, melodic, modern scores.
Neil's breakthrough came when he scored the multi award nominated 'The Rise'. Starring Timothy Spall, Vanessa Kirby and Iwan Rheon, the film premiered at the Toronto Film Festival, where it was the breakout hit.
Neil then went on to write the scores for British drama feature 'North v South', comedy drama 'Golden Years' & sports comedy 'Gloves Off'.

A gem of a record from the Cali scene of the 70s - a set that brings together all the best soulful elements of the LA indie scene of the time - but with an edge that's a lot more forceful than any bigger label jazz of the time! There's a solid punch to the record right from the start - wicked drums from leader Al Williams, and massive bass from Leroy Vinnegar - who's at his funky best, and really gets the session going right from the start! Dwight Dickerson brings in some spiritual undercurrents on piano, as does Charles Owens on tenor - playing here in some of his most open, spiritual styles ever. Trumpeter Nolan Smith adds a nice bite to the set - and the album's filled with some original numbers that have kept us digging this one for years! Ce film, réalisé par François Goetghebeur (réalisateur notamment du remarquable film live d'Alain Chamfort « Impromptu au jardin du Luxembourg »), revient donc en proposant une vision très personnelle de la présence - comme rêvée - de Vanessa et ses musiciens dans un lieu mythique, Ã* la fois solaire et mystérieux.
