During a trip to Death Valley, California in 2010, two friends decided to drive an old Saturn station wagon down a four wheel drive road into the wilderness. After a few hours of driving through the canyons, ever so slowly so not to bottom out the car, they came upon a clearing. It was filled with burned out vehicle carcasses and double wide trailers that had all been shot at, set on fire, vandalized, and finally left to become relics of the desert. It was surreal in the sunset of painted rocks and dead silence. Upon returning home to an A-frame house in Sugarloaf California, Brian Collins started Hurt Valley as a recording project. Many ideas and songs were fleshed out next to a wood burning stove and firelight. Fast forward a few more years, and with a relocation to Los Angeles in 2014, Hurt Valley became a routinely worked on project. What happened next, along with the comings and goings of many different friends and neighbors, was the recording of a series of songs over the course of a few years. Days, nights and weekends, and anytime in between, songs were crafted and recorded in a living room, in an apartment, in Los Angeles. This is what would become Glacial Pace, an album that is part memoir, part dream, part feeling-good, bad, and in between.

Hermine Deurloo's style on the chromatic harmonica is characterized as being rich, lyrical, and varied, combined with effortless fluency. Hermine studied saxophone at the Amsterdam Conservatory while, at the same time, teaching herself to play the harmonica. She's recorded and performed all over the world and with musicians such as Steve Gadd, Jim Black, Han Bennink, Tony Scherr, Willem Breuker Kollektief, Candy Dulfer, Al Jarreau, and the Metropole Orchestra.
Hermine Deurloo and drum legend Steve Gadd, together with Tony Scherr and Kevin Hays, released "Riverbeast" (2019), a collection of tunes composed by Hermine, as well as other members of the group, performed together with Alain Clark as special guest. They're on tour during 2020, together with pianist John Cowherd.
Her most recent recording before that, "Living Here" (2016) is with pianist and composer Rembrandt Frerichs, cellist Jörg Brinkmann and special guest on drums Jim Black, released by Zennez Records. This group did concerts in the Netherlands, Norway, Italy, Egypt, and Germany.
Previous albums include "Welling" (2015), which she recorded with jazz string quartet Zapp4, "Glass Fish" (2012), released by Challenge Records, and "Crazy Clock" (2005), recorded in New York with bass player/guitarist/vocalist Tony Scherr.
Hermine performed in films and commercials like recently for the Los Angeles based filmcomposer Austin Wintory, for a film of Amin Matalqua. She's a guest solist on many CD's and playes with a variety of groups, such as with Mathilde Santing and Ronald Snijders. Hermine has appeared on TV many times, in prime time programs such as "Pauw", "De Wereld Draait Door" and "Jinek". In 2011, Hermine was interviewed for the daily news item on RAI 3 in Italy.

Steve Schiltz is a songwriter/composer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist based in New York City.
Schiltz founded Longwave in 1999, and by 2002 the band was signed with RCA Records. Longwave's sophomore album, The Strangest Things, helmed by Flaming Lips producer Dave Fridmann, brought the band's music to the masses, and international tours with The Strokes, Bloc Party, OK Go and many more followed.
Longwave went on an unofficial hiatus in 2009, after releasing Secrets Are Sinister. After years of collaboration, Schiltz wrote, recorded, mixed and produced Tonight Is the Ghost by himself - the first set of songs from the project that would become Hurricane Bells. The album quickly garnered kind words from critics and a following of fans.
But it was "Monsters," a B-side from the album, that revealed the true power of Schiltz's songwriting. The track was featured on the soundtrack to The Twilight Saga: New Moon, alongside Death Cab for Cutie, The Killers and more. Suddenly, Schiltz's modest new project was a full-fledged band. "Monsters" was the song streaming out of a "Twilight" Hallmark card; the soundtrack sold over a million copies.
Hurricane Bells released an EP in 2010 and a second album, Tides and Tales, the following year. Another EP, There's Nothing Precious in the Past, is pending release. The band toured the States and played to crowds in Japan and India.
Between stretches on the road playing his own music, Schiltz has been invited to play guitar on tours with the likes of Albert Hammond Jr., The Pierces, Teddy Thompson and James Iha. His playing can be heard on Blue October's 2016 hit album Home, as well as UK hits by Birdy and Gavin James. And he's built his own boutique studio, where he keeps his music organic, using vintage guitars, pianos, synths and drums.
Schiltz has co-composed scores for documentaries including 2013's surfing spotlight "Stephanie in the Water" and the Occupy Wall Street chronicle "Another World" in 2014. In 2016, his score for "Voskhod" is accompanying that movie to the Cannes Film Festival. His melodies have also landed in ads for Verizon, Coca Cola, UPS, Cracker Barrel, Kohler and many more.
In addition to Hurricane Bells' There's Nothing Precious In The Past, an album by new project Harvard Of The South is set to be released soon.
