And I'm Isabella Rossini. We've got a lot of great stuff to get to today, including the return of Frankie's Naked Sports Report, and our first dip into the virtual mailbag of 2025.

But before we get to that, let's talk crime, Isabella. When it comes to criminals, are you more a "Let's rehabilitate and try to forgive" person. or more "Lock 'em up and throw away the key!"?

Well, today's news begins with two convicted criminals and one person who's being ACCUSED of a crime, so our thoughts on crime and punishment are about to be tested!

Here with the details is Cecelia Sommer in our famous Naked Newsroom.

We all know the yakuza is not to be messed with, but a leader of the Japanese organized crime syndicate has pleaded guilty in a New York court to TRAFFICKING NUCLEAR MATERIAL! Takeshi Ebisawa also admitted to conspiring to buy American-made surface-to-air missiles. and as partial payment from their intended recipients, he accepted large amounts of heroin and meth! The sixty-year-old is facing a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years and could be looking at life!

Alexander Smirnov, the former FBI informant who concocted the story about President Biden and his son Hunter accepting bribes, has been sentenced to six years in prison for tax evasion and, yes, lying to the FBI. The story he invented was the crux of the Republican impeachment effort against Biden - but the tale that the Ukrainian energy company Burisma had paid each of the Bidens five million dollars was debunked by investigators. In fact, Smirnov didn't have regular dealings with Burisma until 2017, AFTER Biden's term as VP!

And OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, the man whose company is behind the popular ChatGPT, is being sued by his sister. The suit alleges that he sexually abused her when they were both children, and is seeking damages of over seventy-five thousand dollars for "severe emotional distress, mental anguish, and depression." Sam Altman has denied the accusations, and a joint statement made with his mother and two brothers claims the sister has "mental health challenges" and "refuses conventional treatment and lashes out at family members who are genuinely trying to help."

The plaintiff has requested a jury trial, so it's possible we'll learn more in the weeks and months ahead. but certainly a sad story either way. I'm Cecelia Sommer, and I'll be back shortly with more headlines.

Wildfires are still raging across Los Angeles with thousands of structures destroyed and the Santa Ana winds expected to pick up again, today through Wednesday. Hundreds of thousands of people are under evacuation orders and on top of worrying about where to stay, they're also being faced with predatory business practices from hotels and landlords. Over the weekend, California Attorney General Rob Bonta warned against price gouging, looting and other scams, that attempt to take advantage of vulnerable residents. He said that California is watching and that all offenders would be held accountable.

Meanwhile, the US is experiencing a surge in norovirus cases, not seen since they reached their peak in 2012. Norovirus is highly contagious and spread through contaminated surfaces, food, or water. Symptoms can be sudden and appear about anywhere from 12 to 48 hours after infection, and can last up to 3 days. Watch for vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, fever, and body aches. Doctors say the best way to safeguard yourself is to wash your hands frequently.

And an international team of scientists has successfully drilled nearly TWO MILES down, into the Antarctic bedrock and took out what they say is a one-point-two million year old ice sample. The team hopes to gain insight into how Earth's atmosphere and climate have evolved over those years. For instance, a previous mission confirmed that the carbon dioxide levels we're seeing today are more than fifty percent above the highest seen in the last eight hundred thousand years!

Of course, digging that deep into anything is also how many horror movies start, so fingers crossed that KNOWLEDGE is the scariest thing they uncover! Don't go away.

Hello, everyone, and welcome to Naked News. I'm Isabella Rossini. Well, unless something changes, you can count on one hand the number of days TikTok has left in America. Not surprisingly, its users are NOT happy about the change, though as Frankie's about to tell us, many are also flocking to an alternative that has the added bonus of needling the government!

It's true Isabella! Naked News doesn't have an account there YET. but at this rate, we might soon have to! With TikTok seemingly on the way out, the Chinese social media app known to Americans as RedNote has skyrocketed to top position in Apple's US App Store! And the motives behind the sudden interest are clear - there are over A HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND posts using the hashtag #tiktokrefugee, with MILLIONS of comments, and many American users are explicitly saying their use of another Chinese app is trolling! Mind you, the app already had THREE HUNDRED MILLION users, mostly in Asia, so we'll see if this American incursion has a lasting impact!

Walmart has a brand-new logo. kinda! The retail giant made a big fuss about its "comprehensive brand refresh" and "updated brand identity." It talked about how its "wordmark" has been brought to life with "a modern, custom font." And how the color palette, quote, "leans on the retailer's most recognizable tones and its heritage of blue, while ushering in new updates to keep the brand fresh." But the reaction on social media was very Emperor's New Clothes, pointing out that the new look was virtually indistinguishable from the old one! Though I suppose, if it ain't broke.

And now to a video that is absolutely taking off online, and rightfully so. Rather then spoiling it, I'll just tell you that this is a Chicago grocery store, and let the rest speak for itself!

Okay, was anyone else expecting a much smaller animal to be pulled outa there. I'd like to know how the hell a friggin' COYOTE got in that store! Absolutely insane! The video has OVER EIGHT MILLION views on X alone! And for those of you who are wondering: Chicago Animal Care and Control did eventually show up, and the coyote was taken into custody! Well, it's clear at this point that most people's opinions are locked in - but no matter what your beliefs are, the evidence keeps piling up.

Last year was the hottest year in Earth's recorded history! And if that sounds familiar, it's because we reported on this exact same story last year, about 2023. So yes, that makes it two years in a row that the earth has set records for global temperatures. And if you're wondering just how warm the planet got, the global temperature in 2024 exceeded the pre-industrial average by two-point-six-three degrees Fahrenheit! Not surprisingly, ocean temps were ALSO at a record high!

In a related story, the L.A. wildfires continue to burn, and investigators are starting to consider what might have caused them. And with lightning ruled out, and no OFFICIAL indication of arson, the next most common cause would be utility lines. According to the U.S. Forest Service, since 1992, over THIRTY-SIX HUNDRED California wildfires have been related to "power generation, transmission, and distribution." And though nothing is conclusive yet, residents of Altadena are now suing Southern California Edison over the Eaton Fire. To be continued!

And Joe Biden may have less than a week left as President, but it seems he's making the most of it. His administration is forgiving the student debt of ANOTHER hundred-and-fifty-thousand borrowers! All told, Biden will have forgiven the student loan debt of over FIVE MILLION borrowers, and offered over A HUNDRED AND EIGHTY BILLION dollars in relief! And don't forget the maraschino cherry on top of your sundae! But it turns out a lot of those tasty treats got their rosy color because of Red Dye No. 3 - which the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has just BANNED!

Thanks, ladies and yes, the FDA just announced that it's banning the synthetic Red Dye No. 3 because it's been linked to cancer! It's been a long time coming, too. The first study showing tumors in male lab rats given high doses of the dye was back in the nineteen-eighties! And it was banned in COSMETICS in nineteen-ninety! Food and beverage manufacturers using Red Dye No. 3 in their products now have two years to reformulate, while companies making ingested drugs and dietary supplements will get three years.

The FDA ALSO wants to essentially ban nicotine in cigarettes! It's proposed a new standard that would slash nicotine levels from seventeen-point-two milligrams per gram of tobacco to just zero-point-seven milligrams! The agency said this would "limit the addictiveness of the most toxic and widely used tobacco products", including cigarettes, cigars, pipe tobacco, and roll-your-own tobacco. The health benefits would be huge, but the FDA expects MAJOR pushback from tobacco companies.

And the Supreme Court is trying to decide if Texas' age verification laws targeting porn sites should stand! The laws require people who want to access adult sites to confirm they're over eighteen by uploading their government I.D., biometric scans, or using a "commercially reasonable method" like their BANK information! Opponents of the law call it "dangerous", citing privacy and security concerns, and free speech issues. The court's decision, expected to be released in June, will also affect OTHER states with similar laws!

We've got lots to get to today, so let's get it started with some news!

At least ten people have been injured after a ski lift COLLAPSED at a resort in Spain! According to reports, the FIFTY-foot-high ski lift had a pulley come loose, causing a cable to lose tension and several chairs to flip and fall! Roughly eighty people still on the lift had to be rescued.

The FDA has given the A-OK to nicotine pouches! They've approved ten flavors of the Philip Morris product Zyn, including coffee and mint. This marks the first time regulators have authorized the sale of nicotine pouches, though they've been around and under review for over a decade! For those unfamiliar, nicotine pouches are basically like chewing tobacco, though less harmful - and the idea is that they will help people to quit smoking!

And a secret tunnel between the U.S. and Mexico discovered earlier this month is being sealed off by Mexican authorities! According to army officials, the tunnel connecting Mexico's Ciudad Juarez with El Paso, Texas was hidden in a storm sewer. Officials estimate it took one to two years to build and was roughly six feet high and four feet wide, with lighting, ventilation, and reinforced walls. In other words, everything needed for easy smuggling of drugs and people.

Okay, on with the show. It was a busy inauguration day for Donald Trump on Monday, and besides all the pomp and circumstance that goes along with swearing in a US president, a couple of other things stood out to us.

Frankie's in the Naked Newsroom with the details.

There was so much happening on Monday during Donald Trump's inauguration, ladies, that we could be here all day telling you about it. But there were two instances that stood out to us - and the internet - that we'd like to highlight. The first is Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who was totally busted checking out the awesome cleavage of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos's fianc?e Lauren Sanchez. They were seated next to each other during the inauguration. That video and image is all over the internet today, and it's totally cracking us up. You really can't blame him though, right?! And the other was Elon Musk, being his awkward self at an inauguration rally. While speaking to the crowd, he made what many are saying was a fascist-style salute. TWICE!! We'll let you decide for yourself. Have a look.

There was immediate backlash on social media, with many on his own platform, X, comparing the gesture to a Nazi salute. Musk responded to the claim on X with the following tweet: "Frankly, they need better dirty tricks. The 'everyone is Hitler' attack is sooo tired". And that, my friends, is all we're going to say about it. For now.

Meanwhile, the American South is FREEZING! Roughly FORTY MILLION people in the Gulf Coast states including Texas are under winter weather alerts! It's all thanks to what the National Weather Service has called "a generational winter storm event." At the time of reporting, the Texas snowfall is expected to move east - and snowfall records for the Florida panhandle that have stood for decades should be broken! Also, parts of Louisiana's Gulf Coast are dealing with their first BLIZZARD warning EVER! Stay safe AND WARM, everyone!

And Tuesday could prove to be an especially bad day for L.A. The fires which have plagued the city continue to burn, and strong Santa Ana winds and extremely dry conditions could easily worsen the situation. And while the specific wind warnings expired Tuesday morning, it's thought that their impact could be felt at least through Thursday. Overall, at the time I'm saying this, over three million people are under an "extremely critical" fire threat, and another ten million plus are under a "critical" fire threat.

Our recent audition Delilah is making her big debut. and everyone's favorite guest anchor Krysta Lynn is back. She's starting things off today with a news story that's all Netflix, and no chill!

Isabella, Netflix just had a spectacular quarter. and it's celebrating by HIKING ITS PRICES! In the U.S., the cost of the basic service with ads is going up a buck to eight dollars a month, while the premium package will be rising to twenty-five dollars. They added eighteen-point-nine million viewers in the quarter, and among the subscription streaming services, it had the lowest cancellation rate! Chalk it up to Jake Paul versus Mike Tyson, Christmas Day NFL, and the second season of Squid Game!

In other news, the Trump administration's deregulating of cryptocurrency has begun. The Securities and Exchange Commission just announced that its acting chair is launching a "crypto task force" aimed at "developing a comprehensive and clear regulatory framework for crypto assets." And while some lip service was paid to "protecting investors" and "fostering market integrity", the message was clearly received; on the heels of the announcement, the value of a Bitcoin surged by over two percent!

And the Walt Disney Company's absolute box office DOMINATION continues! This past holiday weekend, Moana 2 topped A BILLION DOLLARS at the combined domestic and international box offices. That makes it Disney's THIRD release from 2024 to cross that threshold. The other two were Pixar's Inside Out 2 and Marvel Studios' Deadpool and Wolverine - and to be clear, those were the year's ONLY THREE movies to reach a billion in box office!

I don't want to think like an exec. but I can't help but notice those three movies were all sequels. In other words, there's probably even MORE money to squeeze out of 'em! We shall see! I'll be back in a flash with more headlines!
